Sound Recording And Engineering Application

Click here to see a prototype layout for the subject pages. (Flash Player 6 is required for full functionality)

Set-up page

I am currently working on an application to help people learn about sound recording and engineering. The falling costs of equipment means that very good quality recordings are now within the grasp of most people with a home computer and a little inspiration. The aim is to provide a resource which can encourage users with little or no previous experience in the subject to get music in and out of their computer or workstation as quickly as possible, while highlighting common pitfalls so that they can be avoided en route. It will eventually cover storage choices (Hard Disc/Tape etc), Software, Mixing conventions, equipment set up, effects etc. and explain the key points as clearly as possible while referring to technical terms in the glossary.

A self contained version of the Set-Up page can be downloaded for Mac here and for Windows here

The Odd Shoe page has information on the recording projects underway by Ian Matheson and myself.

Chick Lyall is currently in the process of recording solo piano material at Odd Shoe.
